Days after BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis met NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former BJP leader Eknath Khadse, who quit the party and joined NCP in October last year, met the latter on Wednesday. Khadse has said it was a courtesy call.
Khadse in a tweet said, “Today in Mumbai @NCPspeaks respected Shri Sharad Raoji Pawar, President and Leader of the nation @PawarSpeaks saheb’s good will visit. Inquired about his health after the surgery. At this time, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education @samat_uday were also present.’’
However, Khadse has reportedly discussed with Pawar NCP’s plan to consolidate its position in North Maharashtra.
Khadse’s visit also came a day after Fadnavis had met him in Muktainagar in Jalgaon district during his visit. The meeting between Khadse and Fadnavis took place after he had left BJP blaming the latter for spoiling his political career and joined NCP in October last year.
On Monday, Fadnavis had paid a courtesy visit to Pawar to inquire about his health but that meeting had sparked speculation about some developments of NCP and BJP joining hands in the state. However, both parties have scoffed at rumours.
Khadse, who is currently facing the inquiry from Enforcement Directorate in the Pune MIDC land deal case, is keeping a low profile and focusing on NCP’s growth in his home district Jalgaon.
