The state has become the first to cross the 3.5 crore Covd-19 vaccine doses milestone in the country. This was announced by the Public Health Department additional chief secretary Dr. Pradeep Vyas.
As of July 8 till 7am, 3,54,45,024 people were inoculated in Maharashtra. Of these, 2,80,46,874 received their first dose, while 73,98,150 got their second dose.
The state tops the charts, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 3,52,72,000, Gujarat at 2,73,40,028 and Rajasthan at 2,59,37,769.
On July 7, the state had inoculated 6,35,390 doses in 3,636 sessions.
Amid the Delta Plus variant threat and a possible third wave, the Maharashtra assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution urging the Centre to allocate three crore vaccine doses per month to the state. This will help the state to increase the pace of vaccination; thereby curbing the virus.
The Centre has so far provided 2,84,39,060 vaccine doses and the state has purchased 25,10,730 doses, the minister said. He added that 3,43,82,583 have been cumulatively vaccinated till now.
Public health minister Rajesh Tope said the state is well equipped to vaccinate 10 lakh people per day, provided the doses are available. "With this number, we can vaccinate three crore people in the next two months,’’ he noted.
