Mumbai: After JEE (Main), students seek clarity on NEET UG 2021

With less than a month left for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) 2021, the Union Ministry of Education has not provided any clarity on how it will conduct of the exam. With the appointment of new Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday, students have sought clarity on this, amidst the Covid situation. This comes after a recent announcement was made regarding the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main sessions that will be held by the end of this month.

As per the official notice dated March 12, 2021 released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the competitive exam for admission to medical and dental programmes is scheduled for August 1. The exam will be held in 11 languages, including Hindi and English, through a pen and paper mode. The NTA has urged students not to believe in fake notices being circulated on social media, but check the websites ntaneet.nic.in and nta.ac.in for updates.

While some students want the competitive exams to be conducted as soon as possible to avoid further delay, others hope the exam is postponed.

Ronit Duggal, a student, said, “We have already faced several delays. I hope the NEET UG 2021 exam is conducted soon. This will prevent delay in admission to medical courses.”

Dharti Panjwani, another student, said, “We are facing several risks with the spread of the Delta Plus variant. The exam should be deferred and conducted when the situation is under control. Who will be responsible even if one is affected or infected?”

Students are preparing for NEET UG 2021 in order to secure admission to UG medical (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Studies (BDS), Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Sidhha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) and Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) courses.
