Ratlam: Is giving second dose of anti-Covid vaccine is low on the priority of the district administration? At least the scenario witnessed on Thursday at a vaccination centre is enough to make one to conclude so.
Chaos reigned at the vaccination session of second dose of Covishield at the DRM office in Railway officerÃs club premises on Thursday.
Local administration has arranged the session but many senior citizens were seen standing in the queue due to lack of sitting arrangements.
A divyang and some of the senior women were even seen sitting on the ground.
Lack of separate queues for men and women also troubled the beneficiaries.
On after the beneficiaries contacted an official did the administration deputed two constables to manage the queue.
Worse, the beneficiaries were left high and dry as at about 1 pm they were told that Covishield vaccine has gone out of stock.

After hours of wait these senior citizens were to return without vaccination. Even senior citizen were seen standing outside the premises of the officerÃs club waiting under the open sky for their turn.
At about 1 pm the doors of Vaccination CentreÃs were closed with the information that since doses were exhausted hence those waiting for their turn must go back. People standing for their turn said that they had reached the spot hours ago to get their dose.
District vaccination officer Dr Varsha Kuril told media persons that for the second dose of Covishield only 350 doses were in stock and after vaccinating these many person vaccination centre was closed for Thursday.
People who returned without vaccination said that when it was a known fact that only 350 beneficiaries could be vaccinated on the day then why mostly senior citizens were put in trouble. People demanded that at the vaccination centre for the second dose most of the beneficiaries at present are of the senior citizen group or with co-morbidities and for them proper arrangements should be made so that they can wait comfortably for their turn.
Observers said that in coming days there will be much higher pressure for the second dose of vaccination in the city and elsewhere in the district and therefore district administration should give equal importance to the arrangements which it showed at the time of giving first dose.
