Free Press Journal, Mamata Banerjee's growing ambition: TMC ready to enter national politics, announces Abhishek Banerjee

Kolkata, June 7: With an aim to take Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) head on, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday said that Trinamool Congress had already chalked out a plan to enter ‘national politics’ and also that within a month they will lay their plans.

“After winning the West Bengal polls we have received over one lakh messages across the country where everyone said that Mamata Banerjee can only defeat BJP. We have made our plans to foray into other states to take BJP head on. We will not contest to increase vote percentage but to win over other states,” mentioned the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Reacting to BJP’s jibe of ‘Dynasty’ politics, the TMC MP urged the BJP led Central government to pass a bill mentioning that one member from a family can only do politics.

“They (BJP) have the numbers so they should pass the bill. I promise that I will resign on the same day the bill is passed. Practise what you preach. Can Jay Shah come out and give up his BCCI post? They are miffed over my appointment. Sometimes a dynasty is better than being nasty. The BJP is importing dynastic turncoats,” Abhishek claimed.

Notably, during the poll campaigns, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with other central leaders have mentioned the ‘dynasty’ politics of Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee.

Clearing the air of jibes from other political parties, the newly appointed national general secretary of the ruling Trinamool Congress said that in TMC the only command is the party’s supremo Mamata Banerjee and also that he is not the second person in command.

Claiming that he is not interested in any ministerial post, Abhishek slammed the BJP for allegedly politicizing even the Election Commission along with Central agencies during the recently concluded Assembly polls.

“Despite hard attempts the BJP could not win over Bengal. Bengal has shown that this is not a place to play communal politics,” added Abhishek also slamming the Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar for allegedly being biased towards the saffron camp.

Taking a potshot at BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, the TMC MP urged the Leader of Opposition to indulge in ‘constructive debates’.

“I have heard that the LoP was threatening that the Bengalis residing in BJP ruled states will have to face dire consequences and stuff, instead of getting involved in such statement he should participate in constructive works,” added Abhishek mentioning that even today he will visit the house of senior leaders to seek their blessings.
