Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A joint team of the Crime Branch and Food and Drug Administration department raided various medical shops of the city and seized fake and substandard medicines used for treating infertility and irregular cycles of women.

The action was taken on the tip of a pharmaceutical company which lodged a complaint of supply of fake and substandard medicine of their brand in the city.

Under the supervision of ASP (Crime) Guruprasad Parashar and ADM Abhay Bedekar, the team had raided Shifa Medical, Agrawal Medical, Anas Medical, Annapurna Medical, New Annapurna Medical, Yash Medical, Azad Medical, Sadli Medical, Goodluck Medical, Gazab Medical, A One Medical, Chirag Medical, and Sawaria Medical located at Dawa Bazar and seized various medicines and collected samples of Duphaston, Pecaf-AZ, Moxime-AZLB, Gefix-AZLB, and Finozax-LB tablets.

According to drug inspectors, accused Jitendra Soni was caught selling the medicines to a medical store without any bill or proof of supply. “During investigation, he informed police that he got the supply from Shahnawaz Khan who later informed that he brought the stock from Delhi and Agra. We have also sent samples for testing and charges under Drug and Cosmetic Act would increase against the accused as well on the medical owners if these tablets were found substandard,” drug inspectors said.

A team had raided Purnima Medical Agency a couple of days ago and found that the agency owner had stored medicines named PICAF-AZ and DENSAF-O tablets in his shop.

An FIR against the owner of the agency firm was registered at Sanyogitaganj police station for putting the lives of many people in danger.

Drug inspectors asked Assam FDA about company

Drugs inspectors had checked the company name of Assam which was mentioned on the box on the official website of the concerned department of the Assam

In the boxes it was mentioned that the medicines had been manufactured at a plant in Guwahati, Assam but officials found that no such manufacturing unit was present in the said address.

“We have written to the Assam FDA through email to inform about the registration of the company. We will get the reply in a couple of days and the course of action would be decided as per the reply,” drug inspectors said.
