West Bengal Guv Jagdeep Dhankhar forced to cut short speech amidst ruckus by BJP MLAs in House

Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had to stop his speech within three minutes on the first day of the Budget Session in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly as BJP MLAs stepped down into the well of the House to protest the post-poll violence and fake jab scam in the state.

Dhankhar entered the hall of the House flanked by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay. When he started his speech, he was interrupted by the BJP MLAs. He eventually had to stop his speech within three minutes as the issue of post-poll violence was not mentioned in his speech, which was sent by the Trinamool Congress run West Bengal Government.

Notably, after reading the draft of the speech, Governor Dhankhar had written a letter to Mamata Banerjee to cite certain discrepancies in the letter. According to Dhankhar though Mamata had given a phone call to Dhankhar but the solution wasn’t reached. On Friday, the BJP took to social media and slammed the TMC.

Holding placards of deceased BJP workers, LoP Suvendu Adhikari said that mention of post-poll violence wasn’t there in the Governor’s speech. “The Governor is a nice person. He also campaigned against the post-poll violence. We have shown pictures of 41 people who have been killed in the violence and women who have been raped, but there is no mention of that in the speech sent by Nabbanna,” stated Suvendu.

Suvendu also mentioned that the BJP will go on for continuous protest over the post-poll violence and fake vaccination camp in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, coming down heavily on Mukul Roy, BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh stated that ‘shamelessly’ despite joining the Trinamool Congress, Mukul sat in the opposition's camp inside the House. However, TMC secretary general Partha Chattopadhyay claimed that the Governor had read the speech and slammed the BJP for creating ‘unnecessary’ tension in the House.
