Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that Assembly Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay is trying to suppress the voice of the Opposition due to which the saffron party didn’t attend the BA committee meeting in the House.
Addressing a press conference, Suvendu said that in the House they wanted to bring Adjournment Motion over the fake vaccination scam in Kolkata and also wanted a release from the TMC-run West Bengal government but the Speaker didn’t allow them to complete their speech.
“The fake vaccination scam has involvement of several TMC heavyweight leaders and also Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) so we wanted to adjourn the motion and seek clarification from the state government but the speaker didn’t allow so we have boycotted the BA committee meeting. The Speaker is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition,” said LoP.
Asked about BJP’s stand on dividing the state as Alipurduar MP John Barla has been inducted in the cabinet to which Suvendu said that BJP doesn’t believe in divisive politics and also that the reason for which John Barla has been inducted in the ministry can only be cleared by the PMO.
Notably, all the four MPs who have been inducted into the Union Cabinet took charge of their duties on Thursday.
After taking charge as MoS of minority affairs John Barla said that he is happy that he can serve the tea garden workers of North Bengal.
“I will work for the people of North Bengal. I am happy that I will be able to work for the teagarden workers in North Bengal. No matter what may, I will work for Bengal,” said John.
MoS of Home affairs, Nisith Pramanik said that under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah he will work to further the developmental work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
MoS of Education Subhas Sarkar was seen attending several virtual meetings with directors of several IITs to ascertain their current situations.
On the other side, a day after the saffron camp had asked the ruling Trinamool Congress to release a list on how many vaccines did the TMC government buy, TMC secretary general Partha Chattopadhyay said that by spending 60 crore rupees the TMC government had bought 18 lakh vaccines.
Partha also slammed Suvendu stating that first time in history of West Bengal the Leader of Opposition didn’t attend the Budget session.
