Thane, July 7: Thane police have arrested five people in the murder case of a 22-year-old man who was allegedly killed in Ambernath on Tuesday. The police said the youngster was allegedly killed over a scuffle between two groups from the locality.
The police said the deceased, identified as Bhavik Shinde, is a resident of Brahmanpada in Ulhasnagar camp 4. Shinde on Tuesday night went near Shiv-Mandir in Ambernath. After an alternation he was attacked by five people with a sharp knife. "Shinde was attacked on his chest, neck and other body parts. He was shifted to Central hospital in Ulhasnagar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Shivaji Nagar police in Ambernath accordingly registered a murder case under section 302, 323, 141, 143, 147, 149, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code," said a police officer.
The police found the accused group and Shinde's group had rivalries from past many years, which resulted in murder. Some three days ago the deceased had some alternation with the accused group. So taking revenge and earlier rivalry he was killed. After the murder local police and crime branch sleuths started an parallel investigation to trace the accused.
The Thane crime branch, Ulhasnagar unit formed a team of officers including assistant police inspector, Sampat Phadol amf police sub-inspector, Ganesh Torgal. With the help of technical details, the team used local friends of the accused and called them at a spot to detain them.
The arrested four accused are identified as Omkar Bhaskar, 23, Sachin More,22, Amit Singh, 23 and Rohit Jagdale, 21 and Satish alias Satya Kamble in their early 20's. The accused were handed over to the Shivaji Nagar police station for further investigation.
Madhukar Bhoge, senior police inspector, Shivaji Nagar police station confirmed about the five arrested and said, "All the five accused were arrested. The fight was over some past rivalry. We are investigating the matter," added Bhoge.
