Kolkata: The ruling Trinamool Congress on Saturday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for unnecessarily creating chaos during the speech of Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at West Bengal Legislative Assembly’s budget session on Friday.
TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy on Saturday said that such an act of sudden protest by the BJP during the speech of the Governor is a ‘negative mark on democracy’.
“If the saffron camp had any objection in the speech of Dhankhar then they could have waited for a reply speech session. Hearing someone doesn’t really prove that you approve of everything that the person is saying,” said Sukhendu, also stating that the BJP is trying to divide Bengal.

It can be recalled that Dhankhar who had reached the House by 1:55 pm after paying floral tribute to B.R. Ambedkar entered the hall of the House flanked by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay.
When he had started his speech, he was initially interrupted by the BJP MLAs and eventually had to stop his speech within three-four minutes as the issue of post-poll violence was not mentioned in his speech that was sent by the Trinamool Congress-run West Bengal Government.
Notably, after reading the draft of the speech, Governor Dhankhar had written a letter to Mamata Banerjee to cite certain discrepancies in the letter. According to Dhankhar, though Mamata had given a phone call, the solution wasn’t reached.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari was heard saying that the BJP will go on for continuous protest over the post-poll violence and fake vaccination camp in Kolkata.
