BHOPAL: An MBBS doctor was allegedly raped by an unemployed youth for over one and a half years. The accused also cunningly extorted Rs 1.5 lakh from the victim, the Piplani police said.
The woman had been pursuing her MBBS course from a private college when she met the accused, Roshan Khatri. The 23-year-old victim told the police that, in 2019, she had been introduced to Khatri at a party hosted by a friend. He later called her up and, on September 11, the accused took her to Sacchidanand Hotel, where he raped her promising marriage.
The police said the accused also kept demanding money from the victim on one pretext or the other.
He kept exploiting her sexually until February 14, 2021, when he assaulted her as she refused to give him money. The woman told the police that the accused had lied to her that he was a journalist, although he was unemployed.
When she pressured him for marriage, he refused and kept avoiding her calls, only getting in touch with her to demand more money. After she refused to give any more money, he assaulted her and threatened her with dire consequences if she tried to contact him further. The woman tried to convince him to marry her, but, when he stopped speaking to her, she approached the police.
SHO Chain Singh said the accused had been booked under sections of rape and criminal intimidation of the girl. He was on the run, said the SHO.
