Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that she is taking adequate measures to curb the pandemic’s third wave.
Addressing a press conference, Mamata said that every three days she will take stock of the situation.
“West Bengal government has planned to increase Pediatric care units. 1300 Pediatric ICU beds, 350 SNCU beds, 10,000 General beds for general cases of children and women at Government Hospital. Vaccination to mothers of children below 12 years of age will be prioritized,” stated West Bengal Chief Minister adding that 250 micro containment zones are being made in the state.
Stating that vaccination below 18 years of age didn’t start in West Bengal, the TMC supremo claimed that the West Bengal government is trying to vaccinate four lakh people every day.
Slamming the BJP for allegedly spreading the virus in West Bengal, Mamata said that due to the eight phases of Assembly polls, the active Covid cases in the state had gone up by 33 per cent.
“BJP is a big disease and due to so many phases the pandemic took such a height in West Bengal. Currently, Covid positivity rate is 3.61 per cent which will further go down in weeks to come. Now the situation is conducive to hold bypoll but the Election Commission will not conduct the poll without the permission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” slammed Mamata.
Mentioning that Trinamool Congress government will give full support to former West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, Mamata claimed that Alapan is a competent and honest officer.
“Show me officers like Alapan Bandopadhyay. Centre is targeting an officer who has lost his brother, nephew, mother in the last 15 days. The West Bengal government will give him full support,” further mentioned the Chief Minister.
