Raipur
A senior leader of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC), highly active in Bastar's Bijapur region having a bounty of Rs 8 lakh on his head, was arrested by Telangana Police, a police official said.
Sobroi alias Gaddam Madhukar was apprehended by Telangana Police on Wednesday in Warangal on Peddammagadda Cross Road close to Mulugu Road while travelling in a vehicle from South Bijapur to Warangal for Covid-19 treatment. Madhukar is the Communication Chief of CPI (Maoist) in Bijapur and enlisted in the wanted list of Bastar police, the officer said. Several cases against him were pending in the police stations of Bastar division, he added.
A press release issued by Bastar police mentioned that a senior Maoist leader of DKZSC, suffering from Covid 19, was arrested on the special inputs shared by the informers. Before this arrest, a few days back Telangana police also arrested a group of armed Maoists returning from Covid treatment from Warangal Hospital.
On interrogation, Madhukar revealed the names of several Maoists suffering from Covid 19, Bastar (range) IG Sundarraj P told FPJ over phone.
However, the CPI (Maoist) is not allowing them to go outside for better treatment. Only senior cadres are allowed to go outside for treatment if health condition becomes worse.
These days, several Maoists have mobilized villagers in Silger and are spread infection among innocent tribal villagers, the IG said. 125 villagers in nearby area of Silger are Covid positive.
The CPI (Maoist) is violating basic human rights by not allowing ailing cadres to go outside for better treatment. For their own vested interests, Maoists are playing with the lives of thousands of villagers in the interior areas by violating the Covid protocol, the IG added.
