Amid shortage of vaccines and slowing down of vaccine supply, the city on Saturday managed to inoculate total of 74,655 beneficiaries at 354 designated active Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC) in Mumbai. As of June 5, the financial capital has completed inoculations of 35,91,674 citizens to date.
Of the 74,655 people who took their vaccine jabs on Saturday, a total of 6,435 were beneficiaries above 60 years of age. Besides this 18,589 beneficiaries who took their vaccine jabs on Saturday were people in the age group of 45 years to 59 years, 49,221 were citizens between the age group of 18 years to44 years, a total of 190 health care workers (HCW), 185 Frontline Workers (FLW) and 35 lactating mothers too were inoculated on Saturday till 7 pm.
The city has so far completed 35,91,674 vaccinations of this 33,23,187 too doses of Covishield and remaining 2,58,487 took Covaxin.
Of the total 354 CVCs in the city, 251 are run by BMC, 21 are state/central government-run CVCs remaining 82 are private CVCs.
On Saturday only three AEFI (Adverse effect due to immunisation) were reported, the patients were kept under observation for 30 minutes and allowed to go home.
The civic body announced that there will be no vaccination on Sunday, June 6.
Mumbai’s vaccine supply saw a huge fall of 44% in May compared to that of April. This also resulted in fewer citizens getting inoculated in May compared to April and March, revealed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data.
According to BMC's data, the vaccine supply was 523,440 doses in May 2021, down from 947,500 doses in April. The city has received a total of 3,117,890 doses since January 16, when the vaccination started in the city.
