Maharashtra on Sunday reported a total of 10,442 new Covid-19 cases and 483 fatalities, dragging the state’s cumulative case count to 59,08,992 and the death toll to 1,11,104. Meanwhile, the financial capital reported 700 new cases and 19 deaths due to covid 19.
On Saturday, the state recorded 10,697 new Covid-19 cases, while adding 1,966 deaths to its tally.
According to the bulletin issued by the state health department on Sunday evening, the state has 1,55,588 active cases currently. Whereas, a total of 7,504 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours ending Sunday, which pushed the overall recovery count of the state to 56,39,271 registering a recovery rate of 95.44% per cent . Meanwhile, the state's overall fatality rate has reached 1.88% per cent.
With 700 new infections and 19 fatalities on Sunday, the cumulative caseload in the city has jumped to 7,16,579 and the death toll in Mumbai has now reached 15,183.
The doubling rate in the city now stands at 653 days while the growth rate between June 6 and June 12 has been recorded at 0.10%. The overall recovery rate is as high as 95% in the capital city of Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the Mahim area which has been recording cases in two and three digits when the coronavirus outbreak was at its peak in the city, has started showing a downward trend in the cases reported daily. On Sunday Mahim recorded Zero cases for the second time since the pandemic hit the city. The first time it recorded February 2, 2021, just before the second wave.
As the number of cases has started declining across the city, this has led to the number of containment zones and sealed buildings coming down drastically. Currently, there are 22 containment zones (slums and chawls) in the city, whereas, the number of active sealed buildings have declined to 83.
