The final-year last semester examination results of major Arts, Commerce and Science Undergraduate (UG) programmes might be declared by June-end, provided the examination staff are allowed to commute by suburban train services, said University of Mumbai (MU) on Friday. Degree colleges have submitted marks of final-year last semester exams to the varsity.
Due to the extension of lockdown restrictions till June 15 by the Maharashtra state government, MU exam staff are not allowed to commute by local train services. Vinod Patil, director of Board of Examination and Evaluation of MU, said, "The state government has still not allowed exam staff to commute by local train services in Mumbai. We are working with minimum staff in the examination department because most of our staff members live far away and depend on local train services to commute."
Recently, the varsity had given affiliated degree colleges additional time till May 31 to submit marks. Patil added, "Degree colleges have submitted the marks of final year last semester exam of arts, commerce and science courses conducted via online mode. We are now in the process of formulating results. We were hoping to declare the results by June-end but now, there might be delays if our staff is not permitted to commute by local trains."
Degree colleges have completed submission of marks to MU. Marie Fernandes, principal of St Andrew's College, Bandra west, said, "We have submitted marks of final year last semester exams of all major courses to MU. The process of formulation of results will take some time as it is a cumulative result of the last six semesters of three-year UG programmes."
The final-year last semester examinations of arts, commerce and science UG programmes were completed by 450 affiliated degree colleges via online mode by May 25.
