Mumbai continued to record less than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for the seventh consecutive day.
On Monday, the city had reported 728 fresh cases and 15,786 active cases. 980 patients were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours. 28,076 tests were conducted and the Total Positivity Rate (TPR) stood at only 2.5 per cent. Meanwhile, 28 deaths were reported.
Senior civic officials said that with the prevailing lockdown and the rapid vaccination drive, the case tally has started to fall drastically. "We are thoroughly studying the decline in daily case figures. The pattern of the infection has changed, as cases are not any more being reported in clusters," said Suresh Kakani, additional municipal commissioner and in-charge of public health in the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The recovery rate in the city has reached the 95 per cent mark and the growth rate stands at 0.12%.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 10,219 cases on Monday and 21,081 patients were discharged. Total 154 deaths were recorded and the fatality rate stood at 1.72 per cent.
As, on Monday, there are 1.74 lakh active cases in the state.
