The state government will construct affordable housing with a joint venture between the state-run Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and private developers. “MHADA has conducted a slew of experiments in housing. Due to MHADA's transparent and reliable lottery system in the allotment of flats to home buyers, it has now emerged as a trusted brand. Therefore, the government will encourage the construction of affordable housing through a joint venture between MHADA and private developers,” said Housing Minister Dr Jitendra Awhad here on Thursday.
Awhad was speaking on the occasion of the distribution of 864 flats of the Aurangabad board of MHADA through an online lottery system. He said that MHADA's Aurangabad board has prepared a plan for 5,500 affordable flats at Chikalthana , Nakshatrawadi and Auric City and these projects will be launched soon.
Minister of State for Housing Satej Patil said that the housing department is committed to provide shelter to every citizen of the state. “The objective of the Housing for All scheme can be achieved if space is made available for housing through the government. MHADA's social commitment to the common man is to build quality houses at affordable rates,” he added.
