Indore: Moderate to heavy rain lashed the eastern parts of the city. Not only rain but gusty winds and hailstones may have brought down the temperature but it led to chaos as several trees were uprooted while many temporary shades flew away.
Meanwhile, a day sans rain in the western parts of the city raised the temperature as well as humidity level, making the conditions unbearable. Fearing the untimely "end" of a pleasant spell of weather, rendered by several spells of rain since last four days, people were desperately waiting for another bout of downpour to get rid of the sultry weather. As much as 13 mm rainfall was recorded in the eastern parts of the city while the western part was parched.
According to meteorological department officials, the maximum temperature recorded in the city on Thursday was 37.8 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees Celsius below the normal, with humidity recorded at 49 per cent. However, the night temperature was stuck at 21.8 degrees Celsius which was four degrees Celsius below the normal.
A short spell of rain and cool breeze made the weather pleasant for the last couple of days, but the humidity level crept up by Wednesday morning and was pegged at quite a high leve. However, by evening the humidity level decreased and at 4 pm it was logged at 49 percent.

The met dept said there would be no respite from a high level humidity in the next couple of days and the temperature is expected to remain around 37 degrees at least for the next two to three days, while the humidity would be around 70 per cent.
Many trees uprooted, parts of BRTS inundated
About 20 trees in many parts of the city were uprooted due to gusty winds blowing at the speed of 40 kilometers per hour. Uprooted trees not only cause traffic snarls but also disrupted power supply in many parts of the city. Various parts of BRTS were inundated due to over half an inch rainfall in the evening which also exposed the preparedness of the civic body for the monsoon.
