Mhow: The local police busted a gang whose members used to take cars on rent and then mortgage them by preparing fake documents.
Four culprits were arrested and 44 four wheelers, worth more than Rs 5 crore, seized from them.
SP (west) Mahesh Chand Jain and Additional SP Mhow Puneet Gehlot were continuously receiving information about this gang.
Working on it, SP Jain formed police teams and ordered them to catch this gang as early as possible. Additional SP Puneet Gehlot was given the lead charge in busting this gang.
Few days back Raju Masaal filed a complaint at Pardeshipura police station in which he said that Devendra Thakur, Shyam Suner, Deepak Raghuwanshi and Ritesh Verma had taken four four wheelers on rent. However, after some moths Devendra and his friends stopped paying rent and also refused to return the vehicles. Apart from it Devendra and his teammates also prepared fake documents of cars and sold it to the other persons.”
The police team caught the main accused Devendra Thakur, a resident of Dharnaka, Shyam Suner, resident of Kumthi Hasalpur, Deepak Raghuwanshi, resident of Dhar district and Ritesh Verma, resident of Manpur.

Addressing the media additional SP Puneet Gehlot said, “We have received 47 complaints and all complainants stating that their four wheelers have been sold by Devendra Thakur to other persons by preparing fake documents of the vehicles.”
He further added that, “In the primary investigation the accused have confirmed their crime. They have been indulging in this crime for the past two years. They have taken cars on rent from Indore, Dhar, Sehore, Khargone, Dewas and other districts and after a few months they prepare the fake documents of the car and sell them to the other persons. The police team has seized 44 four wheeler vehicles worth Rs 5 crore from them so far.”
Case has been registered against the culprits under Section 420, 406, 467, 468, 471 and 31 of the Indian Penal Code.
