Mumbai: Despite repeated claims of Maha Vikas Aghadi government being on firm footing, cracks have surfaced among Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut wished Congress party well for its announcement to go solo in Maharashtra assembly elections saying that ‘’I wish them well. If the Congress party is going to defeat Narendra Modi and the BJP government on its own, then we will stand behind them.’’
They (Congress) did that in West Bengal. If the Congress comes to power at the Centre on its own, there would be nothing more historic," Raut said.
Raut targeted Congress a day after he lashed out at the NCP and reminded it of the alliance dharma.
On the feud with the NCP over the election of chairman of Panchayat Samiti in Khed, Raut said 'poaching' of Shiv Sena's members and bringing a low confidence motion against Sena chairman Bhagwan Pokharkar was "injustice" to the party.
When the three parties are working together at the state level, such incidents cause bitterness, Raut said. He claimed that Khed NCP MLA Dilip Mohite Patil was behind the development. He clarified that Sena will never betray its alliance partners in this manner.
Raut said the party was ready to fight the next year's civic elections in Pune on its own or as part of MVA alliance. He asserted that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's popularity will help the party in the polls.
Further, Raut said Shiv Sena will retain power in Mumbai, Thane and Aurangabad civic elections while it will gain power in Nashik. In Mumbai civic body elections, the Shiv Sena MP said, the party expects continuance of the ruling MVA alliance in all local elections in Maharashtra.
