Chhattisgarh: Govt hospitals will be developed into modern hi-tech ones, says CM Bhupesh Baghel

Bhupesh Baghel led Chhattisgarh government has planned to revamp the entire public health infrastructure and the system by upgrading all the block level to district level government hospitals across the state.

For the upgradation of facilities in every district and block-level hospital of the state, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that all the District Collectors must submit an action plan for upgrading of the hospitals within 15 days, an official communique said on Wednesday.

These upgradation of facilities include availability of round the clock medical services, operation room, labour room, laboratories, ICU, ventilators, blood bank and free medicines to the patients.

Post graduate doctors of Paediatrics, Gynecology, Anaesthesia, Pathology, Medicine and Surgery will be appointed in these hospitals in order to have better treatment, CM Baghel said.

However, at the places where postgraduates are not available, alternative arrangements will be made, the CM said.

In the last six months, the facilities such as availability of ICU, oxygen related equipment, beds, ventilators etc in these hospitals have been enhanced and upgraded. These helped in providing better Covid treatment to the patients. Thus, to battle the third wave of Covid efficiently, proper maintenance and management is important, the CM added.

To have proper implementation of his orders, the CM has instructed the district collectors to submit the detailed project proposal of their respective districts within 15 days, the communique added.

President of Chhattisgarh State Hospital Board Dr. Rakesh Gupta said, presently there are around 11,000 registered practitioner doctors in the state. However, to fulfil all the positions, it requires 10,000 more doctors.

As the state has around 13 medical colleges, and around 4,000 foreign degree holder doctors every year coming into the state, such a shortfall of doctors can be easily met in coming years, Dr. Gupta added.
