Bihar: NIA arrests two in connection with Darbhanga station blast case

Patna: National Investigation Agency on Wednesday night arrested two persons-Imran Malik and Mohammad Nasir Khan from Namapally in Hyderabad in connection with the explosions in parcel at platform number 1 of Darbhanga railway station on June 17.

The two arrested persons who are originally from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh are being brought to Patna to be produced before the special NIA court on Thursday.NIA has sought transit remand from NIA special court ay Hyderabad.

According to official sources in the NIA, the said parcel was booked at Secundarabad station on June 15 in 07007 Secundarabade-Darbhanga station special expres train. It reached Darbhanga on June 17 morning and when parcel containing garments was being taken to the parcel room, it exploded on the platform. It contained liquid explosives. GRP of Darbhanga had earlier registered a case and police of three states-Telangana,Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were investigating the case. During investigations,it was found there were international links as the mobile number on the parcel was found active in Nepal. Both consignee and consingnor were the same-Mohammad Sufiyan

NIA took over investigation of the case on June 24 and its team visited Darbhanga, Shamli and Secundarabad.

Preliminary investigations and examination of the accused persons has revealed a trans-national conspiracy hatched by top operatives of proscribed terrorist organisation-Lasker-E Taiba(LET) to execute terror acts across India and cause large-scale damage to life and property .

The NIA official said"Acting under the directions of Pakistan based handlers of LET, the arrested persons fabricated an incendiary IED and packed it in a parcel of cloth and booked the same on the long-distance train from Secundarabad to Darbhanga.This was aimed at causing explosion and fire in the running train resulting in huge loss of lives and property."

According to the NIA official" The arrested persons had visited Pakistan in 2012 and received training from handlers of LET in fabrication of IED from locally available chemicals.They were in touch with the Pakistan based handlers of LET over encrypted communiction platforms".
