Bhopal: Short story leaves lasting impact, says writer Ghanshyam Maithil

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Short stories are small in length but they create a big impact, says short story writer Ghanshyam Maithil ‘Amrit’.

As there is no opportunity for a ‘retake’ in short stories hence it is important to be very cautious while writing them, says Maithil, adding that a little slip on the part of the writer may negatively impact the style of the story.

Short story writer Ghanshyam Maithil ‘Amrit’ made the above statement in a webinar on Sunday. He presided over the monthly meeting of the Lucknow unit of the Laghukatha Kendra, Bhopal.

Chief guest Dr Richa Sharma from Ahmadnagar said that short story writers should read a lot. They should review their own writings and should make a consistent effort to improve them.

Ira Johri, Satish Chandra Shrivastava, Pushpa Gupta, Manju Saxena and Shilpi read out their short stories. Senior critics Gokul Soni and Madhulka Saxena presented their views on the style and the contents of these stories.

Those who attended the meet included Girjesh Saxena, Jaya Arya, Sheikh Shahzad Usmani, Pawan Jain and Vimal Shukla.
