A fire broke out at Nagapada's City Centre mall, opposite Morland Road Thursday night around 9:45 pm. The fire was declared level three (L3) around 10:45 pm and ten fire engines of the Mumbai Fire Brigade were mobilised at the spot.
The fire broke out on the top floor of the five-storeyed mall and with time the intensity of the fire increased. Around 2:45 am on Friday, the fire was declared level four (L4) and around 3:35 am it was declared level five (L5).
Shamrao Banjara (33) a fire brigade personnel fell ill after he suffocated due to the heavy smoke and was rushed to JJ Hospital.
No casualties have been reported, however, it's believed, the fire may have caused a huge loss of property.
Presently 24 fire engines and three rescue vans are there at the spot and fire fighting is underway.
This was the second fire in the city on Thursday. Earlier in the day, a fire had broken out in a garment factory at Kurla West. It was doused after more than two hours.
